Great video! We love Carowinds and the Carolinas in general. The crowds looked perfect; not crowded and definitely not deserted. Very relaxing and enjoyable. It still feels that way today and is my favorite regional park in America. Thanks for posting.

This must be 1996. The wildcat opened that year and I can see a 1996 Chevy S10 Blazer on display in the park

I went on the American Scream Machine several times back in the day. They had red, white, and blue coasters. Good times 🎢👍🏼

I miss the way the park used to be geowing up, they took out alot of great rides, it's so sad

crazy to think that cedar point didn't get its iconic skyline until well into the 90s looking at videos like this you can clearly tell its really only magnum repping that first look from the causeway

Darien Lake has gone down hill. 90s was the best, shows, landscaping, better rides, better food. Wish I had a Time Machine.

It looks way better back then. They really took care of the park and the landscaping. It has gone down hill since the 90s.

My Home park! It looks so different now. So many classic rides gone :( the park just looked more alive with better landscaping and atmosphere

My family and I went there a lot when I was a kid (70s/early 80s). My sister worked there for the summer of ‘83. And then while we were in the area, we also went to the Linesville Spillway to feed the fish. Those were the days! RIP, Conneaut Lake Park!

So many things no longer there like the Steel Phantom, The Wipeout, Swing Around, Log Jammer, Shooting Gallery(They took it out after the shooting last summer) The Paddle Boats, Magic Carpet, Ferris Wheel, and the roof of The Whip that was never rebuilt after the micro burst in the early 2000s. So many other rides that have come and gone as well that were not featured in or built at the time of this recording.

I don't think I have ever been to this place before, but it sure looks like a fun park to visit! Sure looks like a fun trip here! Today (Friday, August 2, 1994) marks exactly 30 years since this footage was originally filmed. Happy 30th Anniversary!!

Darien Lake was fantastic growing up. A lot has changed, but it's still fun. Although I miss the UFO, ranger, crazy quilt, raging seas, the big ferris wheel, and log flume. Those rides were classics and so much fun. At least the viper & other coasters, pirate, bumper cars, corn popper, lasso, silver bullet, and haymaker are still there!

For roller coasters you missed the 'Thunderbolt' and the 'Alps' at this park, they were awesome coasters!

That is wild to see. That was probably my first year going there when I was a kid (Born 1989). We went year after year until I graduated high school. We used to rent a camper for the weekend. It has changed so much, all of the old water rides and slides are gone, a lot of the flat rides are gone as well, no more Giant Wheel. Sad

OMG, this video is so nostalgic because I was born in the late 80s and grew up in the 90s, and I hate that they took all the good rides away! Was just talking about how much I miss the grizzly run, the ranger, and the UFO because I visited Darien Lake earlier today. It just doesn’t have the same vibe as it used to, and the same goes for Fantasy Island which was also my stomping grounds. SO many good rides are gone, including the log ride which used to be my jam and that boat tag was the best!!! And even the damn Ferris wheel, I never much cared for Ferris wheels but that was a staple for the park and it’s so empty without it. 😔 And Barracuda Bay was the shit! I almost went flying off one of those old light blue water slides when they had the foam mats and you’d lose it every time. Then the roughness of the slide would scratch your skin on the way down. It sucked but it sucks even worse not having those rides around anymore.

It's cool seeing it like it was when I was a kid. Now they have like 5 times more coasters but some of this is gone now like the Super Wheel and the UFO. They also have one of the worlds tallest swings, drop towers and a huge water park area. Off to the left as you walk in.

Wow, this brings back so many great memories as a kid. We couldn't afford Disney World, so we went to Hershey only once a year for my birthday. To think we used to be able to ride everything in 1 day...nowadays that's quite a challenge without paying for the line passes. Regardless, I think it's still a great park.

Thanks for this footage. Back when Carowinds actually had its own, unique charm. I can remember my first visit back in the mid 90s and the magic you felt. Nowadays, the lake filling, tree removals and excessive concrete leaves ALOT to be desired.

This brought me back... used to camp up there on Kodak weekend back in the 90s!

I had a seasons pass in 93 and I remember going there every week during that summer. Ya never know you would have to look closely at these videos I could of swore I saw my younger self in the background but I really don't know. Great memories

This year (1993) was the first time I went to GA since 1981. I was 15.

Wow, this brought back memories! The foghorn leghorn height check signs, the Batman stunt show, and those water slides they built next to Batman ride. And the Batman ride just opened that summer, lines were hours long. And while the scream machine wasn't the best coaster, it was iconic. It was the first ride you saw from the parking lot and scared me as a kid.

Oh I miss this Bush Gardens went there May 2024 and for me the park itself is beautiful..but something is definitely off....watching this video from back in the 90's is why I fell in love with this park...but I think they're losing some of there charm...so fingers cross 🤞 that they will do a little better to persevere that wonderful park

U just took me back in time with this video. Thank u thank u thank u!!! The memories I have at this place is endless. My last memories of Geauga Lake (i never called it Six Flags) was the last year of its operation. It was so sad because it wasn't packed like it used to be, but i rode everything like 3 times because I knew it was the end.

Oh wow...what a flood of memories and feelings. Back when BGW was a truly unique park focused on the experience and not on making as much money as possible by cutting quality and service. There was nothing like it.
